The effect of a Waldorf education is to grow a child, with careful tending, into a strong, deeply rooted, freethinking adult, at home in matters spiritual and mundane -- and able to see the spiritual in the mundane. The Waldorf curriculum recognizes the child is a creature of nature and of spirit, and both of these aspects are cultivated and interconnected as the child grows.Enough lecturing! What do you actually see in a Waldorf kindergarten?Tidy hubbies. Near the entrance to the room is a line of wooden hubbies holding rain-boots and rain gear (or snow boots and snow gear, depending on the time of year), slippers, shoes, and a change of clothes.
This sounds like an awful lot, does not it! A good set of preschool worksheets should cover all of this, and more. In the preschool years, repetition is the key to learning, but you should look for worksheets that teach the same skills in a variety of ways. This not only prevents boredom setting in, but also reinforces the concepts by encouraging understanding as well. The importance of reading to your child cannot be emphasized enough, and you should encourage them to read as much as possible too.
Most kindergartens are expected to have a basic understanding of their letters and numbers. They do not need to be reading books when they start the first day of school but being able to recognize the letters of the alphabet and basic numbers is important. Children should also know how to write most of their letters and numbers and be able to recite them. Whether or not your child went to preschool, you can reinforce these skills at home with kindergarten games for kids online. There are a variety of sites that work on these important skills, as well as provide printable worksheets to allow your child even more practice without the use of a computer.
A teacher can easily allot a work to a group of kids on through these worksheets. All this can help a student to learn and write in a fun way and even teach him/her how to perform in a team and forming social bond with other kids. There are many kinds of worksheets available but the best one is still the personally drafted one. This way one can easily check the level of difficulty that is offered to the kids according to their age and even check the progress level. Worksheets can be reused but it is always better to upgrade them from time to time.
Try to supplement each worksheet with a real-life activity. For example after a worksheet on counting, you can ask the child to pick out 3 biscuits and 2 carrots from many. Remember, a child is learning many new things at once. A child of this age has an amazing capacity to learn many new things fast. He can also forget them equally fast. Doing many interesting worksheets with cartoons etc would be fun for him and would help continually reinforce what is learned. Give positive feedback and encourage a child. His finer motor skills are just developing. Do not expect or try for perfection. Do not give any writing exercise too early i.e until he is fully comfortable with holding a pencil. Spend sufficient time and continually reinforce the learning in day-to-day situations. Most importantly, it should be fun for the teacher and the taught!
Here are a few of the reasons your preschooler needs to learn about color. The obvious reason is to teach your child the different colors so that they can recognize them and name them. This is one of the many indicators used to determine whether your child is ready for kindergarten. Colors are often the first adjectives your child will learn and use. Color is used to describe and identify specific objects, helping your child to learn how to pronounce many different words. By incorporating colors to describe various items, your child expands their vocabulary too. Discovering new items of a certain color helps them learn new words to name the items, such as a red apple, a red fire truck, a red shirt and so forth.
